U2 lead singer, Bono powerfully endorses critical Psalms message

It's no secret U2 lead vocalist, Bono loves the Bible, but he has again come forwrd to openly express again how much he truly loves the Psalms.

Bono thinks Christian artists need to be way more honest.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The 57-year-old musician draws inspiration from the words of the Psalms, and admits they have taught him the importance in being honest and listening. Now, he wants other aspiring Chirstian musicians to look to the Biblical hymns for a lesson.

According to Bono, "If you want to create real art, you need to be way more honest than is typical of the 'Christian music' genre."

"Creation screams God's name. So you don't have to stick a sign on every tree," he expressed in one of the five-part video clip series from Fuller Studio, a company that promotes "resources for a deeply formed spiritual life."

Bono believes art doesn't need to be explicitly labeled "Christian" in order to glorify God.

"This has really, really got to stop. I want to hear a song about the breakdown in your marriage, I want to hear songs of justice, I want to hear rage at injustice and I want to hear a song so good that it makes people want to do something about the subject," he stated, noting the honesty of giving expression to real-life situations and experiences is the "key to good art."

Bono looks to Christian artists and encourages them to make art, not a religous advertisment.

"Brutal honesty is the root," he explained. "Not just to a relationship with God, but it's the root to a great song."

"That's the only place you can find a great song. The only place you can find any work of art, of merit."
